Fabric pulls for February

It's hard to believe that February has passed so quickly! This month, I made sure to send out my group of little houses for A Quilt for a Child. I just can't wait to see what the finished piece will look like. If you're interested in seeing the abundance of awesome homes created, just head onto Instagram and search the hashtag villagequilt.  On another note, ideas are looming! New quilt patterns, new apron designs, and some random playing around with fabric makes me wish I had more hours in the day to spend creating! I made quite a bit of progress with my foundation paper piecing hearts quilt.  I opted for a quirky layout rather that scattering the two different types of hearts.  I really really really adore this piece! I ordered some more background fabric in which I plan to mimic the "C" shape taking place.  I mean, who says that everything has to be centered? The latest... my take on creating an oversized FPP design! What do you think? I've got a few mo...

Bohemian Quilt Top

Somewhere in between projects, I came across this gorgeous pattern from Hawthorne Threads Newsletter (May 28th) and immediately had to give it a try! This is why you need to subscribe to their newsletter... ideas, ideas, ideas!   The Bohemian Quilt, designed by Sarah Laws for Cotton & Steel is amazing! I love the pattern and how it all flows together. I used Leah Duncan's gorgeous prints from Art Gallery Fabrics. Oh ~ if I could just keep them on bolts I would!!  I can't wait to hang this beautiful wall piece. If you're looking for a fun, quick quilt project that promises a very sweet outcome, you need to give this a try. You don't need a ton of fabric; mostly quarter yard and half yards. Here's the link on where you can get this pattern! Thanks to Sarah Laws for creating it and sharing it for free!  On another note.... I still haven't forgotten about the strip quilts I'd like to post along with random quilt blocks I've b...

The Birchen Quilt with Recollection

S itting here, on a gorgeous day with the warm sun beaming on this beautiful quilt. Okay... so.. I kinda promised myself I wasn't going to do another blog post until I finished The Birchen Quilt that was started weeks ago. (Hence, the reason I haven't been around.) But here it is today in its vibrant & glorious self. I couldn't be more ecstatic with the way this project turned out. I instantly knew I wanted to make this quilt awhile back when my Instagram feed exploded with variations of The Fat Quarter Shop's Birchen Quilt. I especially adored the quilts that featured Katarina Roccella's Recollection line from Art Gallery. So the fabric choice was simple for me. I had to have one for myself! For starters, the pattern was fairly simple to follow. And, the YouTube video came in handy just to make sure I was doing everything correct, (since this was the first time I was actually following a pattern). The triangles on a roll are genius! I think I...

Flying Geese ~ Etno Style

The fabric, the quality, the colors..... I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Etno Fabric Collection  by Pat Bravo!! The colors & shapes are always so inspiring. And as I was working on this project, new ideas were getting sparked. (So..... you're going to be checking out two more pieces I've been working on.) One thing is for sure. These gorgeous prints needed to be center of attention and what better way than with City Stitches Follow the Leader Quilt! All you can focus on is the way the colors play and blend together. The flying geese were made using the "no waste method". The large square (main fabric) measured 9-1/4" by 9-1/4" while the four small (white) squares were 4-7/8" by 4-7/8". This left me with four flying geese per one fabric pattern that measured 4" by 8".   I love the way this piece came out so much!  The fourth row of flying geese from the no waste method we...
