What's been sewing on....

Ohh fabric designers.... just slow down a bit so I could save some money in my pocket. Seriously. I have a humongous list of fabrics I want to work with and little by little, yes, I'm plucking away at the wishlist. I feel like it's the 'phase'. You know what i'm talking about. Sometimes you go to the stores and everything you see you could picture yourself wearing and sometimes, you shop and feel like you wouldn't wear a thing in sight. Well... i'm currently going through the phase of 'oh my, I neeeeed this....' To reiterate.. have you checked out the stunning collection Coyote by Hawthorne Threads?? Yowza! It's beautiful! I want to make a quilt with that gorgeous "wolf" back panel, some curtains, & some aprons for the shop! (That's just one example of a collection i'm currently crushing on.) The other one I'm luvin' is the collection Mesa by Alexia Abegg, of Cotton & Steel fabric. As soon as it came out, all

The Birchen Quilt with Recollection

S itting here, on a gorgeous day with the warm sun beaming on this beautiful quilt. Okay... so.. I kinda promised myself I wasn't going to do another blog post until I finished The Birchen Quilt that was started weeks ago. (Hence, the reason I haven't been around.) For starters, the pattern was fairly simple to follow. And, the YouTube video came in handy just to make sure I was doing everything correct, (since this was the first time I was actually following a pattern). The triangles on a roll are genius! I think I&#

Flying Geese ~ Etno Style

The fabric, the quality, the colors..... I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Etno Fabric Collection  by Pat Bravo!! The colors & shapes are always so inspiring. And as I was working on this project, new ideas were getting sparked. (So..... you're going to be checking out two more pieces I've been working on.) One thing is for sure. These gorgeous prints needed to be center of attention and what better way than with City Stitches Follow the Leader Quilt! All you can focus on is the way the colors play and blend together. The flying geese were made using the "no waste method". The large square (main fabric) measured 9-1/4" by 9-1/4" while the four small (white) squares were 4-7/8" by 4-7/8". This left me with four flying geese per one fabric pattern that measured 4" by 8".   I love the way this piece came out so much!  The fourth row of flying geese from the no waste method we
